Entrepreneurship
In 2019, 32 community members graduated from The Maa Trust’s first Street Business School entrepreneurship course.
Two Maa Trust staff members, Marias and Isen, are certified Street Business School (SBS) Lead Business Coaches. They were trained in skills to coach small scale entrepreneurs how to fight poverty through business.
In December 2019, 32 trainees graduated with a Street Business School certificate after The Maa Trust’s first cohort through the 6-month, 8 module entrepreneurship course. The course covered a wide variety of business skills including business identification, bookkeeping, market research and business planning. The students will continue to receive coaching and support for one year.
In addition to the SBS programme, The Maa Trust is empowering women’s groups through microfinance training and loan access. In 2019, five women’s groups were supported to secure loans from the Women’s Enterprise Fund. Group members were then trained in basic business skills, loan accounting and payment.
