Purity Kurraru

Child Protection Coordinator

Purity Kurraru is the Child Protection Coordinator at The Maa Trust, where she champions children's rights and works towards eradicating harmful cultural practices such as FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) and early marriages. Her approach involves engaging communities, conducting school workshops, and promoting a participatory approach that involves the community in creating sustainable change. Purity has honed her expertise in child protection through positions with Anglican Development Services and Compassion International, where she coordinated and implemented projects for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Community-Led Alternative Rites of Passage (CLARP), and holistic child development initiatives.
Currently, Purity is advancing her education by pursuing a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration. This follows her completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Diplomacy. Additionally, she has acquired certifications in child protection and in addressing Sexual Violence against children, further solidifying her commitment and expertise in safeguarding the well-being of children.
