January marked a month of tangible progress and meaningful milestones for children and communities across our program areas. At The Maa Trust, our commitment remains firm, ensuring every child has access to quality education, safe learning environments, and the opportunity to thrive.

Since October last year, construction of the Nkaimurunya Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) School has been steadily underway. This January, that vision took a major step forward as we joined our partners Africa Exchange in the official launch of the school, celebrating a significant milestone for the Nkaimurunya community.
Already, the impact is visible. The school is currently serving over 59 children, with 7 enrolling on the day of the launch. Located in a zone where human-wildlife conflict is common, the school offers school children accessible learning in a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment during their most critical years of development.
The Nkaimurunya ECD School is part of a broader effort under Integrated Child Development Centers (ICDCs) by Africa Exchange, which are building an ecosystem of life-sustaining services designed to support vulnerable children and their families. These centers aim to bridge gaps in education, health, and child protection, particularly in remote and underserved areas by bringing essential services closer to the communities that need them most. As our partners, the Maa Trust assisted Africa Exchange in gaining community entry and ensuring.
The launch event brought together key education, conservation, and community leaders, underscoring the collective commitment to early childhood development. It was graced by Mr. Ratemo, Curriculum Support Officer (CSO), Koyaki Zone, Mr. Kemei, Sub-County Director of Education, Ole Minis, Maasai Mara Game Warden, Mr. Moses Kimursoi, Head Teacher of Ole Tarkash Feed School, Sam Harrel the Executive Director of Africa Exchange, Mark Okello the Kenya Programs Manager and Simon Lokurchana , Change for Children Coordinator
Their presence highlighted the strong partnerships driving this initiative and the shared belief that investing in early childhood education is foundational to long-term community wellbeing.
As we begin the year, the progress at Nkaimurunya ECD School stands as a powerful reminder of what collaborative action can achieve. Together with our partners and the community, we are laying the foundation for brighter futures.
